Himatangi Beach - Online presence

Himatangi Beach Website -

Their current website is very basic, straight up unattractive and very boring! Half of the links on the page link to other sites completely and the website is out of date and very unattractive. This website needs a total re-vamp and update.

Facebook -

There currently isn't a proper facebook page for Himatangi - There is a location place but this would ideally need editing and changing as currently it isn't attractive or a great advertiser for the location.

Instagram -

There is a location on snapchat for Himatangi and a hashtag himatangibeach but no dedicated instagram account for the beach. A problem with people creating pages such as instagram and facebook is they require people to post things on these pages to keep them active. Himatangi being a place cannot afford to pay people to constantly post on social media - perhaps though this could be something done by committee members?

Snapchat -

Himatangi have no snapchat location feature, with this beach being a youth spot over summer specifically it is important to keep the place up with the know and current. Snapchat filters are key to the location of places now and it is vital in helping Himatangi to become more of a location that we allow visitors to be able to share their location with their friends through the simple filter.

Twitter -

Current twitter situation is very minimal - yes there are tweets and supposedly a Himatangi Beach twitter page but this hasn't been used yet.

Palmerston North and Manawatu District Webpage -

This site has a very general description of Himatangi, they have contact information which is a generic 0800 number, the photos quality, but not different to any other beaches photos, and could be taken anywhere with only one photo visible of the river which runs out at the beach.

Problems identified:

- Himatangi's current website
- Lack of local brand? Can our entrance way also create a logo which can go over multiple platforms and be used to make Himatangi more of a place and branded destination.
- SNAPCHAT filter?!
- Facebook page / Instagram - lack of presence.
- Also where are the 'known's' where do you find that Himatangi have the best icecreams? Where do you find their great fish and chips? Where do you find the spots to swim - event's etc? These are all vital things that would be solved through having more of a social media presence and a better website!
